This two-day Masterclass will begin hands on with oil paint handling, painting wet on wet, colour mixing through artist demonstrations with each student getting stuck in testing and pushing the use of paint. Ciara will then lead a series of time-based painting challenges where the emphasis is on students becoming comfortable mark making in paint without importance on the end result.
For the second day of the Masterclass each participant will bring a selection of images of particular places of significance to them. Using the skills learned the day before they will undertake a self-directed series of paintings with one-to-one tutorials from Ciara and individual feedback towards the end of the day. Students will finish the Masterclass with some paintings that they have made but more importantly – new skills and a confidence in oil paint that they may bring with them into their future paintings.
