Thursdays 10am to 5pm, Accredited, 5 Credits
This 15-week term will be organised around three blocks of five weeks in drawing. Dorothy Smith will lead the first block, drawing from the environment through fieldwork and self-portraiture. Una Sealy and David Eager Maher concentrate on live observation from the figure with an emphasis on anatomy, structure and gesture. The module aims to transition students from direct contact to full self-directed drawing practice and there will be an assigned self-directed project. There are 3 hours contact tuition per week with an equal weight to self-directed learning. Students will build drawing skill and material approaches over the course of the module.

TU Dublin Accreditation
The completion of all 6 modules are awarded with a CPD Diploma in Painting and Drawing, Technological University Dublin, Minor Award with a NQF Level 8. Students can complete all 6 modules over the course of one academic year or complete separate modules over the course of a number of years. All modules will be subject to the quality assurance and exam regulations of TU Dublin.
RHA School Access Programme
As part of the RHA School Access Programme, two free places on RHA School courses are offered – one to an artist currently enrolled at any of the third-level art colleges in Ireland and one to an artist of merit at any stage of their career. Artists and art students who wish to be considered for these places should include a cover letter with their online application providing a short statement indicating how they would benefit from attending the course.
