Oriole Cullen, Curator of Modern Textiles and Fashion at the V&A speaks with artist Dragana Jurišić and fashion designer Roland Mouret to discuss their November 2019 collaboration, RHA X. Filmed live in the RHA, the Q&A covers a broad range of themes including identity, freedom, privacy, authenticity and expression.
About RHA X
RHA X: Roland Mouret x Dragana Jurišić, was a ground-breaking international art and fashion experience at the RHA Gallery that took place in November 2019. RHA X presented the collaboration of world renowned fashion designer, Roland Mouret and acclaimed Irish-based visual artist, Dragana Jurišić. The work created a third space; an intersection between cultures, perceptions, aesthetics and art forms, inviting the audience to connect through a shared immersive experience. Of the project Roland Mouret said: “This is the first time in my life that I’m using my creative mind purely as a creative and not a fashion designer. The journey is very exciting.”
RHA X launched with a gala fundraising event which welcomed a cross section of personalities from the worlds of art, fashion and design. On the night the immersive installation was animated personally by the artists for the assembled guests. The installation then continued over the weekend with a team of performance artists.
The Q&A took place the morning after the gala, touching on themes of identity, what it means to feel known, how the act of creating can transform both the artist and those experiencing the work, and how these concepts informed the RHA X collaboration.
The RHA was proud to partner with IPUT Real Estate Dublin as title sponsor of RHA X, with additional support from the Dylan Hotel, Perrier Jouët, 111 Skin and Irish Tatler.
