Join artist Sophie Béhal for this workshop where, through drawing, we will explore Dorothy Smith ARHA’s exhibition Land Marks, which showed in the RHA Ashford Gallery in 2018. Looking at the black and white drawings from Dorothy’s exhibition, we will take inspiration and think about our own everyday surroundings. We will explore a variety of mark-making techniques and, using observation and imagination, we will make our own drawings, maps and prints.
For this 1 hour drawing workshop you will need some drawing materials and some paper. You can do this workshop with just a pencil and a piece of paper, but it would be nice to have a range of different types for example:
- Pencils ( 4B,6B, darker drawing pencils)
- Charcoal / Chalk / crayon
- Black Marker
- Masking Tape
- Variety of papers ( white, brown, black, old envelopes etc.)
Sophie Behal is a visual artist and educator. She has worked on creative engagement projects with Temple Bar Gallery + Studios, the RHA Gallery and Glasnevin Educate Together National School. This work concentrates on the imaginative process, searching and asking questions with people, and facilitating their creation.
