Una Sealy is a graduate of DLIADT (Fine Art, Painting 1980), and UCD (Higher Diploma in Arts Administration 1989), and during her thirty year career to date has been involved in many aspects of the arts, as well as maintaining her commitment to painting throughout. In 1982, she co-founded Studio 16, one of the first and longest running artists’ group studios in Temple Bar, Dublin. During the 80s she was very involved in the community arts movement, and was the manager of the City Arts Centre, Dublin from 1985 to 1991.

She lectured in painting at DLIADT from 1991 to 1996, and has been an invited tutor on many courses including those in the National Gallery and the RHA.

Una has had seven solo exhibitions, including the Ashford Gallery, RHA; the Molesworth Gallery, Dublin; the Linenhall, Castlebar; and the Dunamaise Arts Centre, Portlaoise. She has also exhibited widely in group shows in Ireland, UK, New York and San Francisco, where she lived from 1996 to 1998. She has been a regular exhibitor at the RHA Annual Exhibition since 1992, as well as an invited artist at many of the banquet exhibitions at the same venue.

She has received several prestigious Arts Council awards, including a travel bursary in 1996, and she was awarded the prize for a Work of Distinction by an Artist of Promise at the RHA Annual Exhibition in 1993. She was invited Artist in Residence for Eigse Carlow in 2009.

Her work is included in the collections of The Office of Public Works, Fingal County Council, Galway City Council, National Self Portrait Collection, Boyle Civic Collection, Aer Rianta, Commission for Energy Regulation and many private collections.
