The RHA Summer Art Camps will take place during 189th Annual Exhibition. Throughout the week children will visit the exhibition, learn about the works on display and respond to these through creative art activities. Kids will explore a variety of materials and art forms including clay, plaster, collage, costume, painting, drawing, sculpture, nature and more.
RHA’s Summer Art Camps will be facilitated by artists Sophie Behal and Michelle Hall.
Sophie Behal is a visual artist working mainly in sculptural installation, which can include audio, text, and photographic and performative elements. Her work is characterised by an attention to the inherent qualities of materials and their relationship to time. Recent projects include: Guest Appearance, group project, Trinity’s Museum Building, 2018, Fool’s Guild, performance lecture, Exhibition Lab, Helsinki, 2018 and residencies at Mustarinda post fossil f,uels residency, Finland, 2018 and Impilinna, Uto Island Residency, Finnish archipelago 2017.
Michelle Hall is a visual artist working across various disciplines including moving image, photography, text and performance. Throughout her practice she gathers materials over time to create narratives that explore human thought and behavioural processes. In 2018, Hall was the recipient of the RHA Fingal Studio Residency Award and received a commission with Infrastructure, Fingal County Council’s Public Art Programme 2017 – 2021. Recent residencies include Künstler- haus Bethanien, Berlin and the Center for the Study of Substructured Loss, London. Hall was awarded the Prague based StartPoint Prize 2017 and the RC Lewis-Crosby Award at the RDS Visual Art Awards, 2016.
