Ages 8 – 12 years
This workshop will combine sculpture and performance to create fun, improvised artworks. Working together, we will explore the visual elements of form and composition through movement and gesture, creating our own unique forms. We will then translate these into sculpture, working with different materials; clay, paper, foam and paint, to create our own artworks. Using improvisation and sculpture as our key tools, the workshop will focus on fast and intuitive ways of making to create energetic, collaborative artworks.
Sibyl Montague makes sculpture, video and installation. Her work is interested in objects and how they ‘perform’. She often works with found material and assemblage, using organic (gelatine, liquids, food) and digital matter to build site specific works for exhibition. Montague is currently member of Temple Bar Gallery and Studios (TBG+S), Dublin and co-founder and curator of PLASTIK, international festival of artists’ moving image in Dublin.
Booking is through Eventbrite only. Kids workshop cost €12 per child, with all materials provided. Priority booking is given to Friends of the RHA.
