Ages 8 – 12
This workshop will explore our senses through experiments with materials that are hard, soft, heavy, light, gloopy, solid, rough and smooth. Using smell, touch, sight, sound we will investigate the physical properties of the world around us and become more aware of our bodies in space. We will then use these materials to create assemblages that are both sculptural and architectural in their form, experimenting with different surfaces treatments to remind us of the freedom we have to move between 2D and 3D mediums, to create our own abstract built environments.
Ali Kirby received a BA in Fine Art from LSAD in 2014, specialising in Sculpture & Combined Media. Her practice is primarily concerned with our embodied experience of architecture. Using ordinary construction materials, Kirby creates site responsive installations that appear restrained, solid, and minimal, with their fragility revealed upon closer inspection.
Booking is through Eventbrite only. Kids workshop cost €12 per child (plus booking fee), with all materials provided. Priority booking is given to Friends of the RHA.
Booking link will be posted here 2 weeks prior to the event.
