AGES 8 – 12
Join artist Helen MacMahon to investigate the work of light artists. Helen will explore her own art practice with participants, demonstrating how she splits, bends, folds and bounces light to create works of art. Participants will discover and explore the unique qualities of light using a number of everyday materials and optical devices. Participants will also learn how to harness light to make artworks of their own
Helen MacMahon is an artist who explores the phenomena of light, movement, perception and space, revealing the ecosystem that exists between the viewer and these elements. Her artworks take the form of immersive installations, sculpture and photography. Much of her work is experimental in nature and she uses commonplace materials, such as mirrors, glass, and lenses that have the potential to act in surprising ways when illuminated. MacMahon was a 2019/2020 artist in residence at RHA Wilton Park Studios, an IPUT/RHA initiative.
Booking is essential for all RHA Kids workshops through Eventbrite. Booking opens approx. two weeks before the workshop: find booking link here.
