Kerry Trip RHA Friends’ Visit to Cill Rialaig Artist Retreat and Arts Visitor Centre
The Cill Rialaig Artist retreat is located in one of the great, untouched rural landscapes of Southwest Kerry in what was once a pre-Famine village on Bolus Head. It was rebuilt as an artists’ and writers’ retreat by former publisher Noelle Campbell-Sharp and a local community group in 1991. It has been a haven for artists ever since and has attracted some of the world’s leading contemporary artists for a unique residency (rent free) where they can focus on new work whilst being inspired by nature and the wild Irish landscape.
45 minutes away, walking distance, is the Cill Rialaig Arts Visitor Centre famous for its exhibitions, fine craft, delicious food and art workshops for adults and children.
We will travel down on Friday 6 April and meet for dinner that evening in the Butler Arms Hotel for those that wish to join us. On Saturday, we will visit the Cill Rialaig Arts Centre in Ballinskelligs followed by lunch and further activities. For those that wish to stay over a group booking at a special rate has been organised at the Butler Arms Hotel for Friday and Saturday night. The cost includes dinner on the Friday evening. Saturday evening is free for the Friends to do as they please.
Contact Friends Co-ordinator, Róisín Bohan by email friends@ rhagallery.ie or tel: 01 661 2558 to book or for more information. Places are limited so early booking is advised.
