Vera Klute ARHA: Small Sculpture Process Demonstration

In this video, Vera Klute ARHA will show the process of creating a small scale sculpture that can be cast as an edition. In the studio she will build up a wax model from which a simple silicone mould is created. She will then use jesmonite to cast the limited edition sculpture.

Vera Klute is a multi-disciplinary artist. She was born in Germany and has been based in Dublin since 2001. She has exhibited widely in Ireland and abroad and her work is held in many public collections, including the National Gallery of Ireland, the OPW, Dublin City Council, the National Self-portrait Collection. In 2017 she had her first major survey show at the RHA. Previous solo exhibitions include the Molesworth Gallery (2016), the LAB, (2006, 2014), the RHA Ashford, (2014), QSS Gallery, Belfast (2014), the Butler Gallery, Kilkenny (2011) and Wexford Arts Centre (2009).

Recently, Klute completed her first public art commission, a large stone sculpture of Luke Kelly situated in Dublin 1. Currently she is developing a series of sculptures for the New Children’s Hospital. She has won numerous awards such as the Hennessy Portrait Prize at the National Gallery, the Hennessy Craig Scholarship and the K+M Evans Award at the RHA Annual Exhibition and the Emerging Visual Artist Award at  Wexford Arts Centre. She has been awarded several Arts Council Bursary Awards and was elected Associate Member of the RHA in 2018.

Her current solo exhibition Grounded runs at the Molesworth Gallery, Dublin until 30 September 2020, and showcases her current body of work.
