How is the Incarnation presented in the works of the various artists that make up this eclectic gallery: can we detect a positive Christmas message from the works here on display. What would a 21st Century viewer be likely to extract from these historical icons? Mark Patrick Hederman has been a Benedictine monk of Glenstal Abbey, Limerick, Ireland, for the last fifty years. A former abbot of the monastery and headmaster of the school, his doctorate was in the philosophy of education. A founding editor of The Crane Bag Journal of Irish Studies, he has also published several books the most recent of which is The Opal and the Pearl, Dublin, Columba Press, 2016.
