Architectural Tour, the RHA Building with Henry J Lyons Architects’ Project Manager, Finghin Curraoin
Join us on Tuesday 20 February at 11am to be led on a tour of the RHA building by project manager, Finghin Curraoin of Henry J Lyons Architects and learn about the building’s refurbishment in 2007. Housed at Ely Place since 1970, Henry J Lyons Architects was contracted to refurbish the building in 2007, bringing it to its current state. This project comprised of the renovation and re-organisation of the existing structure to provide clear routes and paths through the building while improving the quality of the gallery spaces. A continuous simple material palette throughout the building serves as a backdrop for the constantly changing exhibits of Irish and International art, while glazed walls are used as buffers on the ground floor pulling the café in from the street. A separate studio based educational facility, including a reference library as well as group and individual studio spaces, is situated above the atrium volume and rear galleries.
